Large Vacuum Chucks

  • 2L Large Vacuum Chucks are produced from flat ground hi-tensile Cast Aluminum plate.
  • Vacuum Chucks Are Shipped Ground Flat.
  • Design allows for skim cut removal of material to reflatten the surface if necessary.
  • Multiple Vacuum Chucks can be used in the same CNC Machine to create extremely large vacuum workholding areas.
  • Precision Vacuum Chucks available in 3 standard sizes.
    • 13″ x 25″ x 1.5″.
    • 18″ x 36″ x 1.5″.
    • 24″ x 48″ x 1.5″.
  • Special grid design:
    • Maximizes vacuum holding power.
    • Allows for removing material from the top surface if the Vacuum Chuck is damaged during use or if the Vacuum Chuck needs to be re-machined flat.
  • 1/2″ spacing between the Gasket Cord Slots.
    • Provides for flexible workpiece placement.
    • Optimizes table space.
    • Optimizes the amount of workpiece exposed to the vacuum.
  • Threaded holes on the face of the chuck can be used for vacuum, clamping, and allows for easy attachment of Workstops for aligning workpieces.

Vacuum Ports and Connection Assemblies

  • Each Vacuum Chuck has individual Vacuum Ports with multiple vacuum holes per port which allow for flexible use of the entire top surface.
  • Each port can be shut off individually.
  • The 18” x 36”, and 24” x 48” Vacuum Chucks have four vacuum ports.
  • The 13” x 25” Vacuum Chuck has three vacuum ports.

Air Venturi Vacuum Pump

  • The included 1/4″ NPT Air Venturi Vacuum Generator Pump creates a vacuum using compressed air.
  • Solid Anodized Aluminum construction allows for use in harsh, dirty environments and clean rooms.
  • Straight through, filter free design helps prevent clogging from debris when machining.
  • Vacuum is created by supplying compressed air to the supply port.
  • When air pressure is applied, the Air Venturi Vacuum creates a vacuum at one end and the air is exhausted out the other end.

Gasket Cord, Hold Down and Locating Workpieces

  • Quickly seal off the vacuum holding area by using 2 different size Gasket Cords.
  • 1/8″ x 5/16″ Gasket Cord (50 ft.): Part No. 10543 (typically used for smaller workpieces).
  • 3/16″ x 5/16″ Gasket Cord (50 ft.): Part No. 10544 (typically used for larger workpieces).
  • Quick Vacuum Gasket Cord placement allows easy workpiece size changes.
  • Hex Workstops, Adjustable Edgeclamps, Side and End Workstops locate the workpiece consistently.

1/4″ NPT No-Clog Silencer

  • Threads onto the Air Venturi Vacuum Generator Pump.
  • Used to quiet air exhausted from the Air Venturi Vacuum Pump.
  • Straight through, filter free design of both the Air Silencer and Air Venturi Vacuum Pump limits possible clogging by debris.

Drill-Through Workpieces

  • Replaceable Top Plates and the low slip Vacuum Gasket Sheets allow drilling through and machining around the outside of the workpieces without damage to the Vacuum Chuck.
  • Replaceable Top Plates to prevent damage to the Vacuum Chuck when cutting through workpieces, and custom fixtures and top plates.
  • Optional Replaceable Top Plates allow for machining and drilling through the workpiece, eliminating possible damage to the surface of the Vacuum Chuck.

  • The 13″ x 25″ Vacuum Chuck is small enough Vacuum Chuck that it is manageable in size and weight for operators to more easily move the vacuum chuck to machine workspaces as needed.
  • Produced from flat ground hi-tensile cast aluminum plate.
  • 1/2″ spacing between the Gasket Cord Slots.
  • Additional threaded holes in the top surface of the Vacuum Chuck allow for use of Workstops to align workpieces and to attach a Replaceable Top Plate.

  • The 1/4″ NPT Air Venturi Vacuum Generator Pump creates a vacuum using compressed air.
  • The Air Venturi Vacuum’s Solid Anodized Aluminum construction allows for use in harsh, dirty environments and clean rooms.
  • Its’ straight through, filter free design helps prevent clogging from debris when machining.
  • The vacuum operates by supplying compressed air to the supply port.
  • When air pressure is applied, the Air Venturi Vacuum creates a vacuum at one end and the air is exhausted out the other end.
  • Vacuum Flow (SCFM): 4.5
    Amount of Supply Air Used (SCFM): 5
    Diameter of straight through vacuum flow path (Bore Diameter): 0.20″ (5 mm)
  • Workholding / Fixturing calculations:
    Hold down force is calculated simply by:
    Force = (area of part being held in sq. in.) x (vacuum in psi).For Example, if you are using a 3″ round suction cup to hold a part the force applied to the part is:
    7.069 x 11.8 psi = 83 lbs. of holding force (For reference: 24″ HG=11.8 psi)
    Where 7.069 is the area of the circle (πr2) = 3.14159 x 1.52

 

Hold Down Force / Workholding / Fixturing Calculations for Air Venturi Vacuums

Hold down force is calculated simply by: Force = (area of part being held in sq. in.) x (vacuum in psi)

For example:
If you are using a 3″ round suction cup to hold a part the force applied to the part is:
7.069 x 11.8 psi = 83 lbs. of holding force (For reference: 24″ HG=11.8 psi)
Where 7.069 is the area of the circle (πr2) = 3.14159 x 1.52

Remember to allow for a safety factor.
